Countdown

Event countdown

  1. Australian Bureau of Statistics 2020, Causes of Death 2019, cat no 3303.0. October
  2. Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Diabetes: Australian Facts, 09 February 2023

Cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetes and obesity remain to be one of the biggest health challenges facing Australian society today.

CVD affects more than 4 million Australians causing around 118 deaths per day - that's one death every 12 minutes.¹ Diabetes, similarly, has a high-disease burden affecting around 1 in 20 Australians, with that number rising to around 1 in 5 in Australians aged 80-84.²

GPs play a critical role in the prevention and management of those patients who have type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD) or both.

This one-day event is designed to enable GPs to optimally manage patients with CVD and diabetes, with a focus on prevention.  The symposium will feature leading Australian researchers and clinicians, who will discuss the latest evidence and therapies, tying it all together with case-based discussion.

There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions - or feel free to just listen to the answers if that's your preference.

This was an excellent outline of dyslipidaemia management by both presenters. The best on the subject that I have been to in the last 2 years. Clear, concise and useful.
