Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this education you will be able to:

1

Conduct a structured assessment of erectile dysfunction that identifies organic, psychological and mixed contributors, and screens for cardiovascular and endocrine risk.

2

Initiate and optimise first-line therapy with PDE5 inhibitors in accordance with TGA-approved indications, recognising contraindications and common tolerability issues.

3

Identify patients who require referral for second-line therapies and understand the principles of vacuum devices, intracavernosal injections and penile prostheses.

About this education

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is common, under-discussed, and frequently reduced to a prescription encounter. Yet ED is often a marker of underlying cardiovascular, metabolic, endocrine or psychological disease. General practitioners are uniquely positioned to identify reversible causes, optimise comorbidities, and initiate appropriate first-line therapy.

This webinar provides a practical, case-based framework for assessing ED in primary care, initiating evidence-based management, recognising treatment failure, and understanding when and how to refer.
