Description: GPs elevate your expertise in musculoskeletal care by joining this upcoming webinar presented by two leading Healthscope orthopaedic surgeons. Dr Julian Yu, a knee and hip specialist driven by modern technology, will present on knee injuries, management options and common complications after knee surgery. Whilst Dr Matthew Sherlock, with an interest in sports injuries and joint replacements of the upper limb, will present on rotator cuff and biceps issues.
With 150+ different musculoskeletal conditions involving bones, ligaments, connective tissue and joints, GPs need to facilitate a patient-centred, whole-person care, chronic-disease approach.
Interdisciplinary teamwork also plays an important role in managing acute and chronic presentations involving these presentations.
Musculoskeletal symptoms affect all age groups and can result from hereditary, congenital or acquired pathologic processes. They represent the most common chronic conditions in Australia, accounting for 13% of the total disease burden. GP presentations vary from acute to chronic, and simple to complex.

Description: Hear from two leading Healthscope interventional cardiologists. Dr Tony Lai will present on suitable patients for cath lab interventional procedures including benefits and complications. And Prof Kuljit Singh will discuss common structural heart disease presentations, diagnosis and when to refer to a cardiologist. Includes Q&A session.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD), including acute and chronic heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease, is a complex and multifactorial issue that affects 16.6% of the Australian population. It is the leading cause of death in Australia and accounts for 26% of all deaths.
Timely diagnosis is important to optimise evidence-based treatment options, which can delay mortality and improve symptoms. GPs need to be equipped to diagnose, treat, manage and assess CVD patients with up-to-date processes and use of technology. While ongoing management is the role of GPs, early collaborative care involving cardiologists and GPs enables higher quality care and leads to improved survival. This program will assist GPs to readily identify clinical presentations of heart disease, determine appropriate investigations and treatment options, and ensure timely referral to a specialist when needed.

Description: In this free CPD webinar presented by two neurosurgeons, GPs will understand current surgical procedures and interventions, so they’re better equipped to discuss treatment options with patients. Dr Terence Tan will present on the role of advanced enabling technologies in spine surgery. And Dr Adrian Praegar will present on advances in lumbar spine surgery, including the role of Endoscopic Spine Surgery (ESS). Includes Q&A.
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, spinal injuries and disorders are a major health concern in Australia, with back pain and related problems alone accounting for just over 4% of the country's total disease burden in 2022 [1]. This translates to a significant number of Australians experiencing back pain or other spinal issues, making it crucial for general practitioners (GPs) to be well-equipped to manage these conditions effectively.
